What is Street Dance?

Street Dance is an umbrella term for a range of specialist dance styles which originate from New York and Los Angeles, that started in the 1970’s funk era. These styles consist of Locking, Popping, Boogaloo, Breaking, Hip Hop and House. Always inspired by the music, Street Dance styles were created and developed in a social environment e.g. parties. These ‘social dances’ have resulted in a revolution of fresh and truly unique dance styles that have gained world-wide recognition and popularity.

Is it difficult to learn?

The essence of Street Dance is about being creative and individual, so for us the most exciting aspect is to see your interpretation of the moves! We break down the foundations clearly for you so that you can take your time and feel confident with them. We help you to understand the groove and funk behind the moves and encourage you to reach your potential in a relaxed and positive environment.

What are the benefits of Street Dance?

We believe the main attribute of Street Dance is to express what the dance means to you. So through learning authentic foundation moves, your understanding of freestyle will improve, enabling you to discover your own individual style within the dance! Also, this is a very energetic form of dance and therefore an incredibly effective cardiovascular exercise!

What is Belly Dance?


‘Raqs Sharqi’, which literally translated means ‘Dance of the East’, is one of the oldest styles of dance and has captivated attention around the world for centuries with its exotic and elegant appeal. Although Middle Eastern Dance has been practiced by many different cultures and for many different purposes, it is said to have its roots in Middle Eastern fertility ceremonies – a dance performed by women for women. This ritualized expression has also been performed at other events such as parties and preparing a young woman for marriage. The focus in Belly Dance movements emanate from the torso whilst isolating different parts of the body, creating sensuous and graceful patterns in time with the music.

Is it difficult to learn?

For most people, the basic belly dance foundation movements are not too difficult. Like with any style of dance, practice will increase your confidence with the moves!

What are the benefits of Belly Dance?

There are many health benefits from practising Belly Dance. The fluid body movements combined with Middle Eastern music can certainly help a mind filled with daily stress to "let go" for a while and relax! Belly Dance is a fun, healthy and incredibly effective exercise for every part of the body. It is a creative outlet that conditions, tones, and allows a woman to tune into the natural movements of her body. Therefore, Belly Dance is terrific for all ages, sizes, and body types!

What is Bollywood Dance?

In Indian and Hindu culture, dance has been used for centuries as a way to celebrate various occasions, for example when a child is born and when a couple are getting married. For decades, dance has also been a vital aspect of the Indian and Hindu film industry and the infusion of song and dance in their films has grown in popularity. Bollywood dance grew in recognition after the film ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ inspired a new dance craze, when during the closing credits of the film, the cast performed a vibrant choreographed dance to the hit song ‘Jai Ho’. Bollywood combines western dance styles with Indian folk dances, further popularising classical Indian dances such as Bhangra dance.


Is it difficult to learn?

Essentially, Bollywood is an interactive style of dance with heaps of energy and charisma! Bollywood dance steps are simple to learn, the focus in our classes is enjoying the style, the music and the entertainment factor!

What are the benefits of Bollywood dance?

Bollywood is a high energy and thoroughly enjoyable form of dance that has rapidly grown in popularity. It is a very effective form of exercise for every part of the body and the uplifting music creates an exciting and positive atmosphere!

What is Zumba®?

Zumba® is a dance-based aerobics workout that gets you moving whilst learning steps to dances such as Salsa, Merengue and Reggaeton! Zumba® depicts a fusion of captivating Latin rhythms and easy-to-follow moves to create an energetic and dynamic workout system. This style was actually invented ‘by accident’… In the 1990’s Alberto Perez, a Columbian aerobics instructor, turned up to teach his class one day and discovered he had forgotten his aerobics music. Therefore, he decided to improvise with a selection of his own music, which consisted of salsa and meringue – this fast became the most popular class at the fitness centre!

Is it difficult to learn?

Zumba® is easy to learn. The focus is on keeping fit whilst benefiting from learning traditional Latino-style dancing – moves you can impress everyone with the next time you’re at a party! Zumba® has become incredibly influential in the fitness industry and is often referred to as the ‘fitness party’.

What are the benefits of Zumba®?

Zumba® is a fun and exhilarating cardio-based workout. You will burn calories whilst learning awe-inspiring movements! It will increase your oxygen consumption, get your heart pumping and tone your body at the same time. Expect a lively atmosphere, lots of laughs and plenty of groove!
